When To Go Organic

photo: ktblue.files.wordpress.com

A new report warns us which fruits and veggies we need to be eating organic. And those we shouldn't waste our time and money on. The report (CNN via my friend Bora) -- as I spit out the non-organic domestic blueberries I'm eating:

THE DIRTY DOZEN - foods that you should always buy organic or from a farmer that doesnt use pesticides/chemicals

Celery

Peaches

Strawberries

Apples

Domestic blueberries

Nectarines

Sweet bell peppers

Spinach, kale and collard greens

Cherries

Potatoes

Imported grapes

Lettuce

THE CLEAN 15 -

Not all non-organic fruits and vegetables have a high pesticide level. Some produce has a strong outer layer that provides a defense against pesticide contamination. A number of non-organic fruits and vegetables contain little to no pesticides.

Onions

Avocados

Sweet corn

Pineapples

Mango

Sweet peas

Asparagus

Kiwi fruit

Cabbage

Eggplant

Cantaloupe

Watermelon

Grapefruit

Sweet potatoes

Sweet onions
