My 87-Year Old Grandmother Reviews Momofuku Milk Bar's Compost Cookie

While recently visiting my grandmother in suburban New Jersey I took a quick afternoon jaunt into the big city. With a mere few hours to explore, I sought the advice of a trusted college pal on how to properly spend my Manhattan caloric intake. "DEFINITELY GO TO MOMOFUKU MILK BAR. GET THE COMPOST COOKIE. THANK ME LATER," she said. So... I did just that. But instead of hogging the cookie all for myself, I decided to bring it back home to Jersey and give my sweets-addicted grandmother a sampling of the famous Momofuku Milk Bar Compost Cookie. This is her review...

APPEARANCE: "Looks like a small pancake" and "Very shiny"

GLANCE AT INGREDIENTS (chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, graham crumbs, potato chips, oats): "YUCK!" and "POTATO CHIPS? WHY WOULD THEY PUT POTATO CHIPS?"

TASTE: "Like a good oatmeal cookie" and "Don't taste all the crap" and "Sweet, good, tasty" and "I like it!"

PRICE ($1.75): "WHERE DO YOU COME FROM THAT YOU CAN CHARGE THAT MUCH FOR ONE COOKIE?"

Thanks, Granny.

  2. My Dad actually printed out a copy of this post and snail mailed it to my grandmother. Her comment: "I would have done my hair if I had known you were taking a picture!"

    1. She's the best. If I saw her more often I would start a web series of her reviewing fancy desserts.
