UPDATE: Burger Lounge OPENS in Santa Monica
LATEST UPDATE (3/15/13 12:22 PM) - Burger Lounge is OPEN.
-----------------
UPDATE (3/14/13 3:20 PM) - Apparently the city of Santa Monica wasn't ready quite yet for a new quality burger entry. According to Burger Lounge PR, the restaurant has yet to open due to some city approval snags. No official date of opening has been set yet, but it should be fairly soon.
------
Twenty-thirteen is setting itself up to be a blessed year for Santa Monica in the burger department. First came Hole in the Wall moving to Colorado Avenue. Stout Burger, although behind original schedule of a February opening, will also launch early this year. Now comes news that local, mini-chainlet Burger Lounge will officially open it's first SM location at Arizona and 2nd Street next Wednesday, March 13th. Located next door to Tender Greens, the new Burger Lounge will offer the same menu found at the other eight SoCal locations, including their current "seasonal special," an Elk Burger with jicama slaw, duck cracklings and chipotle aioli.
Burger Lounge will also be donating proceeds from the first two days to the local chapter of Growing Great. On Wednesday, one hundred percent of sales of their signature Lounge Burger goes to the charity and on Thursday all proceeds from their veggie offerings. Not a bad reason to check out the new joint.
Looks like Pier Burger has a worthy adversary for the off-Promenade burger crown.
