Meatless Monday Lunch: Larchmont Village Wine, Spirits & Cheese (Larchmont/LA)

Date: Monday, July 14, 2013

Address: 223 N. Larchmont Blvd, Larchmont/LA

Ordered: #6 - Vegetarian on French baguette (avocado, tomato, roasted red & yellow peppers, mixed greens, black olive tapenade, extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar plus Swiss gruyere cheese)

Thoughts: Last Monday I had a meeting in the Hollywood area, so I racked my brain for potential Meatless Monday Lunch destinations. I was really hungry too, so it had to be substantial. After a few minutes of brainstorming, I came upon a possible solution: Larchmont Wine & Cheese. Did the Larchmont shop, purveyors of a stellar turkey sandwich, also offer a killer veggie sandie? A quick glance at the menu screamed YES. Their "#6" sounded on the page like the most appetizing vegetarian sandwich I had ever read. And the best part? The proof was in the pudding. By far my favorite Meatless Monday Lunch "veggie" sandwich since I started this 2013 herbivorous adventure, I highly recommend the Larchmont Wine & Cheese "Vegetarian." It all starts with the deliciously crunchy, yet soft French baguette and top notch, fresh ingredients. The peppers (both red AND yellow) really stand out, as does the salty tapenade. I added Swiss gruyere cheese in hopes of tricking myself into thinking it was my beloved #4 (the turkey sandwich) and while the sandwich certainly stood on its own, I would recommend you do the same. It added just one more flavor layer to an already tasty sandwich.

Did I Miss Meat?: NOPE. When you get a large sandwich at Larchmont Wine & Cheese, you don't miss anything - except the next meal because you're still full.
