LA Burger Blurb (September 2013)

- Fantastic news, Westside burger connoisseurs/people who like food that tastes good: originally planned for late 2012, then early 2013, Stout Burgers & Beers finally officially opened in Santa Monica on Tuesday. Despite the rabid hullabaloo over the past year surrounding the eventual arrival of the gourmet "new style" burger slinging spot, Stout actually ended up opening their doors very much on the Q.T. But, when you think about it, it's pretty fitting with the dark and laid back ambiance of the joint. Stout joins a crowded (and somewhat impressive) roster of burger spots to sprout up in Santa Monica over the past year, including Hole in the Wall, Burger Lounge and Pono Burger. The third Stout location is at 111 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica (between Ocean Avenue and 2nd Street) and open currently everyday for lunch at 11 a.m. and dinner Sun-Thur 5 pm - midnight and Fri & Sat 5 pm - 1:30 am with happy hour coming soon.

- In other local burger-ants (burger-restaurants), Umami Burger will be opening their whopping 20th location at 11 am on Monday, September 23rd. TWENTIETH. Pretty crazy stuff. The newest Umami is opening downtown in the so-called Arts District and will feature an impressive local draft beer selection. For now, the menu will consist of Umami "greatest hits," but the plan is in the very near future to add signature burgers (like at the other locations) to the docket. The newest Umami Burger is at 738 E. 3rd Street, DTLA.
