What: Pineapple-Smoked Pork Shoulder Platos Grande.
Where: Tacoteca, Santa Monica.
Why Should I Be Eating This Right Now?This is the slow-smoked pork, pineapple taco mash-up you never thought you needed. Yet, after one Tactoteca visit, you'll be craving it until your humble return. The smoky meat is flavor-packed and crispy with slight citrusy pineapple notes. But what really escalates the dish: the swine-y pineapple chunks scattered throughout. I shit you not, cochon-flavored fruit will soon be your favorite thing in life. The plate also comes with a bevy of fixings: pickled-onion cabbage slaw, pico, black beans and cilantro rice. The corn tortillas are made in house and your server will bring more, so while the dish is a little pricey at first glance, if diners (it's recommended for three or more) are savvy, they can stretch the allotted fillings to six or seven tacos, leveling it with the a la carte taco menu rates.
