Things I Really, Really Like To Eat Right Now: Maple Block Meat's Brisket.

What: Maple Block Meat Co.'s Brisket.
Where3973 Sepulveda Blvd, Culver City.

Why: I want to take this wood-smoked bbq brisket to Homecoming for a plethora of reasons. First, it's MOIST. Super moist. Don't like the word moist? Let's say the brisket's... moist. Get over it, it's one word. Move on. The brisket's also tender. And flavorful - with the ringing proof you rarely see anywhere in the Southland. Let alone in Culver City, which, truth be told, has seen a major BBQ push this summer due to multiple openings, yet not until Maple Block commenced biz was any of it worth the shirt of your back. Hell, I'd give my whole suit. Probably my shitty suit, but, you know, it's still a suit, which is a major thing to give away in exchange for a few brisket cuts. Another thing to adore about Maple Block: you can get any meat, in any proportion. And they have ribs, chicken, turkey and are experimenting with smoked prime rib and fish right now. Proof I'm not alone in my adoration: they aren't even open for dinner yet and at lunchtime it already possesses the feel of a Culver fixture.
